WIA luncheon

Hello Members,

We encourage you all to keep participating in professional events as we weather this economic storm.  We are professionals first, and employees second, and so we should all stick together to learn from or teach each other, to problem solve together and to build each other up.

Did you come to an event, start up a conversation with someone, and forget to exchange business cards?  Do you know someone who doesn't work at your firm anymore?  Please email WIA with your questions or updates to your contact information.

Student Shadowing Days for Pinellas Firms
Sign up your firm for one or more afternoons!  Dunedin H.S. Architectural Design Academy juniors and seniors will individually choose from the list of available dates and participating firms to meet with you and see what you do.  The Academy students come from all over Pinellas County.

From Michael Awe, Instructor for the Architectural Academy At Dunedin High School, A “Center of Excellence”:

"I am soliciting area Architects and/or Structural Engineers who are willing to assist in the professional shadowing program. I encourage my juniors and seniors to sign up for times to shadow working professionals in Pinellas County. Students will meet individually with these volunteer professionals at their offices 2:00 – 5:00p on a prearranged Tuesday, Wednesday, or Thursday (April 21 – May 14). I would like them to see first hand what may take place on a typical day for these professions.

"You may volunteer for certain days or dates. I will have my students sign up for the time slots available. I will then forward the calendar with the students’ names for your reference. The students will be expected to call and confirm their appointment with you.

"Please e-mail me if you are interested in assisting with this program. Please include which dates you would be available as well as your office address and phone numbers."

To sign up, please contact: Mr Michael Awe 727-469-4100 (ext 2377 voicemail) awem@pcsb.org
